About the role:

The candidates will be expected to assist the directors and attorneys in various legal and administrative matters, as well as work independently when required.   Other key responsibilities include: 

  • General candidate attorney duties related to Litigation Procedures and Third-Party Claims;
  • Legal research;
  • Drafting Legal Documents;
  • Lodge and serve legal documents;
  • Attend matters at Court and Registries;
  • Liaise with clients;
  • General administrative duties;
  • Assist with other functions within the Firm whenever required

To qualify for the role:

  • Must be in possession of LLB degree or equivalent qualification from recognised tertiary institution.
  • Must be a Namibian Citizenship/Permanent Resident.
  • Must be registered as a candidate legal practitioner with the Justice Training Centre. (Candidates who have completed the practical legal training course and/or who has passed the Legal Practitioner’s Qualifying Examination will get preference.)
  • Must have a sound knowledge of Magistrate Court Rules, High Court Rules as well as Practice Directives
  • Good understanding of corporate/ commercial litigation in the High Court will serve as added advantage.
  • LLM in Commercial/Energy/Mining/Financial law will serve as an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in the following areas will serve as an added advantage:

-Company Secretarial Work;

-Corporate & Commercial Law

-Labour Law;

-Dispute Resolution;

-Oil & Gas, Mining and Energy Law

  • Have a ‘can do’ approach and works to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to juggle priorities and understand the urgency of all tasks and completing projects/tasks in as short-as-possible time without sacrificing quality or compromising on standards;
  • High ethical Standards;
  • Excellent Communication Skills in English, both oral and written;
  • Dynamic with eagerness to learn, self-disciplined and the ability to work in a pro-active manner;
  • Service Oriented;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong focus on pro-activity, taking initiative and anticipating reactions and outcomes;
  • Strong administration skills and organizational skills;
  • Computer Literate;
  • Eye for detail and desire to improve standards and deliver excellence.

  • Willingness and ability to work overtime whenever practically necessary to ensure the successful completion of a project / task.
  • Willingness to comply with and implement within own area all aspects of the performance criteria.
